The Astrology of 2025 (Part II)
LA fires explained, Mars & Venus retrograde, Eclipses, the outer planets changing signs and the relevance of Aries and Pisces this year
I provided a detailed forecast for your rising sign this year (don’t miss it if you didn’t see this edition!), and I also want to highlight other significant transits occurring in 2025 that will definitely affect us and our society as a whole. You’ll understand why everybody is saying that 2025 will be a game-changer.
If you want to understand what the heck happened in Los Angeles recently, scroll down because Mars retrograde is no joke, folks.
Mars retrograde
Do you feel like the beginning of the year is dragging on, leaving you low on energy? This sensation may not just be the January blues; it could also be due to Mars being retrograde. This event occurs every two years, and since Mars is the planet of action, its slow movement can leave us feeling less vibrant. It's like the universe encourages us to slow down and focus our energy inward.
Mars stays retrograde approximately every two years (or 26 months) for around three months. However, due to its pre- and post-shadows, a Mars retrograde lasts nearly seven months (!).
So, for example, if you’re a rising Cancer, Mars retrograde is most possibly transiting your 1st house, the Ascendant angle, so there is some sense of isolation, not wanting to reach out to others. A desire to kind of hibernate and save your energy to organise your thoughts and actions so you can tune in to your true desires during the following months.
If, on the other hand, you have your Ascendant in Taurus, your Mars is retrograde on your 4th house, which speaks of our home & family matters. There might be some stress on the family front and some events that require immediate attention in that sphere.
Additionally, suppose your Midheaven (MC) ruler is Mars (which means it’s positioned in Aries or Scorpio). In that case, you might be dealing with changes in your career direction or even a setback in this area. Or if it’s the ruler of your Ascendant (Aries and Scorpio rising people), you might feel slow progress in your projects and, with a lack of energy, not know what to do next.
In summary, Mars, considered the planet of action, being retrograde, gives us that limbo feeling, where we feel directionless. We humans get so used to producing, producing, producing that the universe just creates those moments. It forces us to look inward, so we change direction and foster the power of stillness. Remember: this too shall pass!
The wildfires in LA
It can’t go unnoticed how Mars retrograde is connected to more serious events like the wildfires Los Angeles just experienced. When the fires started on January 7th, it was the day after Mars retrograde moved to Cancer after a quick stay in Leo. Mars retrograde moved to Cancer on January 6th, after one month in Leo.
You might not know that the United States has a Cancer Sun (born on the 4th of July), and Mars is a planet of fire energy in astrology and literally represents fire and wars. It’s also a planet related to violence when the energy is channelled negatively. Being Cancer ruled by the Moon and representing our foundations, our family, and our literal home, observe how the themes relate: the fires (Mars) violently took place around the city and destroyed many houses (Cancer), living people directionless and nowhere to go (retrograde).
We just had a Full Moon in Cancer, too, on January 13th, and the fires are much more controlled now. This is related to the meaning of the full Moon of completion and the sign of Cancer, which represents something coming full circle in the USA's home sphere (both Cancerian themes).

The Lunar Nodes change signs
On Saturday, 11th January, the Lunar Nodes moved into the signs of Pisces and Virgo. This massive astrological shift runs until July 26, 2026, so the universe is preparing us to start another soul journey chapter.
We haven’t witnessed the Nodes in this pair of signs since 2017, so this shift is major!
In astrology, the Lunar Nodes illuminate destiny and fate. They remind us to surrender to the unknown because there is a bigger picture that we often forget about.
The North Node speaks of our soul purpose, the agreement with the universe to fulfil spiritual lessons, so it’s very much related to our true mission as spiritual beings. It speaks about potential skills within our human form to achieve this higher mission but areas of discomfort until we master them. If the road is easy, how do we develop ourselves?
Being in Pisces, the most spiritual of all zodiac signs, is a fresh call to surrender control to a Higher Power and believe that things will come into place. If we Let Go and Let God, things will work out—not always our way, but the best way.
On the other hand, the South Node is a point in our chart about our past and the skills we have mastered and are familiar with because we conquered them in previous incarnations. It’s a helping hand to guide us through our North Node journey, something familiar to hold to as we navigate unknown waters. It’s also about our distant past (family, heritage, childhood), spiritual past, and karma. Past lives and those spiritual families we don’t recall, but that stay in our spiritual DNA.
Being in Virgo, the most perfectionist of the zodiac signs, is a call to surrender the need to be perfect as humans and remind ourselves that perfection only exists in the spiritual dimension. It’s not our mission as humans to be perfect. We should pay attention to details and structures to distinguish between reality and imagination, but we should step back when needed and trust in universal timing.
So you get the picture: there is a call right now to step into the unknown, knowing the universe has your back in whatever endeavour you commit yourself to. However, we should use our analytical skills to distinguish reality from dreams. Pisces’ ocean is vast, and we may get lost in the way. Then Virgo’s structure can be of great service!
Lunar Nodes & Eclipses
The Lunar Nodes will also highlight the area of our charts where the Eclipses are felt on a personal level. The Lunar Nodes are associated with what’s supposed to happen, which is why eclipses are associated with fateful events. The eclipse is basically spiritual hygiene and a way to align ourselves with our true spiritual path, whether we understand it or not. Being in Pisces now, it’s a call (or maybe a scream in the case!) to surrender and trust.
During those periods, unexpected events usually shake our structures a bit (or too much!). With the North Nodes in Pisces, you’ll see that, in the end, they are events that only served your best.
In my 2025 personalised forecast, I wrote about where you’ll see those upcoming eclipses manifesting in your own birth chart, so don’t forget to check it out.
And pay closer attention to those dates:
14th March: Lunar Eclipse in Virgo
something that began around September 2024 comes full circle
29th March: Solar Eclipse in Aries
something usually starts and develops until the beginning of October
7th September: Lunar Eclipse in Pisces
something that began around March 2025 comes full circle
21st September: Solar Eclipse in Virgo
something usually starts and develops until the beginning of March 2026
Lunar Nodes recap
Started: 11th January 2025 North Nodes moved to Pisces, and South Nodes moved to Virgo
Ends: 26th July 2026 they change signs again to the Leo-Aquarius axis
Venus goes retrograde
In 2025, we’ll have a Venus retrograde. Venus retrograde happens about every 18 months and lasts for about 40 days. At this time, starting on the 1st March in Aries (the last time it was retrograde was in Leo, in summer 2023) and ending on the 12th April in Pisces, the sign of its exaltation (in other words, where Venus feels most thriving and happy), it's a time to reflect on relationships, finances, and values—as like all retrogrades, it’s a season of “re”: re-evaluate commitments, re-examine financial habits, re-visit old love stories, re-making your aesthetic.
Venus is also officially the planet of love (j’adore!), so it’s a fertile period to start romantic partnerships, as Venus conjuncts with the Sun and marks its “New Moon” phase, where new starts tend to happen in the Venusian sphere. Aries plays a major role in the astrology of 2025, a zodiac sign known for starting things and new beginnings, so being Venus retrograde in Aries just adds to the magic!
As if it wasn’t enough, Mercury will start its first retrograde phase in the year on 15th March, also in… you guessed it right.. Aries!, and end on the 07th April in Pisces. If you want a hint about Mercury's retrograde, read this post about the most famous planet in this phase so you can look on the bright side, as the planet of communication will be retrograde twice more during the year.
Observe the pattern, folks: these signs start a retrograde phase in Aries and end the retrograde phase in Pisces. Thus, these dancing planets represent the first and last houses of the Zodiac. Something begins, and something ends, and we come full circle, blending fire and water, action and emotions, fierceness and softness. We should finish what we start (more on that later!).

Neptune and Saturn are both moving into Aries, Uranus greets Gemini, and Jupiter couples with Cancer
There is so much talk about 2025 being a game changer for humanity because the outer planets are making important moves in the heavens. They all change signs during the year, a very rare occurrence, mainly when it affects them all in a single year.
Saturn will shift into Aries on 25th May and stay there until 1st September, before it returns to Pisces for the rest of the year. Therefore, this three-month period will offer a sneak peek of themes unfolding from 2026-2028, when Saturn returns to Aries for two years. Saturn's transit through the first sign of the Zodiac (Aries again!) offers immense growth potential, especially for those willing to embrace self-mastery lessons. This is a time to initiate things and learn patience to build something meaningful.
Neptune is also moving to Aries (here it goes again!) and changing signs for the first time since 2012 (!). This shift will occur on the 30th of March, next to the first pair of eclipses of the year, and remain there until the 22nd of October. Therefore, with so much intense planetary energy (Venus retrograde added to the mix), I predict that March will be pivotal for societal developments and more significant events in our personal lives. It will also be Mars’ first month out of retrograde, so things are back on track. Keep an eye out!
By the way, it’s common for planets to move to another sign and back to the previous one as they go through their retrograde phase, which explains this back and forth, in case you’re wondering.
Coming back to Aries playing a significant role in this year’s astrology, observe how two significant planets are moving to Aries, the self-starter of the Zodiac, as it naturally rules the first house in astrology; it also kicks starts the astrological new year (when Aries season begins), so having two outer planets in slower motion than our personal planets, meaning they manifest events affecting not only us as individuals but society as a whole, the reason they stay in a sign for more years, it means the themes associated with them are new cycles (Aries energy, 0 degrees) in humanity and in our individual journeys. We also kicked off the year with Mars retrograde, a sign ruled by Aries.
Pisces is also evidenced this year, considering that retrograde phases of Mercury and Venus end in Pisces, Saturn is in Pisces and returns to Pisces, Neptune is in Pisces, and returns to Pisces, and the North Node moves to Pisces. In summary, for new beginnings to emerge, a cycle must end. It’s the polarity of life. And we should embrace the spiritual side of things! The intangible world exists, even if it remains unseen. Pisces renews our faith in a higher power, in the invisible. The cycle is only complete if we transcend.
Saturn rules Capricorn (Earth), and Aries is ruled by Mars (Fire), so action takes form. We should see many beginnings, but we must have discipline and a structured goal to make things happen. Neptune, on the other hand, rules Pisces (Water), so when coupled with Aries (Fire), there is a softer approach to action, as Aries is the first house of the Zodiac and Pisces the last, so it’s a blend connecting beginnings and endings. It seems an invitation to balance action with emotions so we can see things coming full circle from a higher perspective (Pisces) as we embrace what ignites our fire (Aries) and nurtures our vision (Neptune).
Saturn and Neptune will also be in close conjunction in Aries throughout June, July, and August, so we might see events in our lives and outer manifestation in the public arena giving more structure to our ideals and dreams or restricting some of our extraordinary thinking. Visionary Neptune gets a shower of reality when dancing with disciplined Saturn.
Jupiter then moves into Cancer on 9th June for the rest of the year, so we’re moving from a Gemini energy - an expansion of knowledge, an immersion in curiosity, an overexposure to social media - to an abundance of energy in home-related matters, family life, female energy, nurturing and sensitivity. After a period of busyness and information restlessness, we want a break from mental stimulation to get cosy in the emotional realm (Cancer is a water sign, an element associated with our emotions). Cancer-rising folks also will be more positively affected, as Jupiter touches an essential angle in their birth charts, a period of renewal and a new cycle starting. During this period, in effect until mid-2026, women, in general, might be more in the spotlight, too! Think of more female figures taking leadership in government as an example and benefiting society and minorities.
Finally, Uranus moves into Gemini from 7th July until 7th November before it returns to this sign in April 2026. Uranus is rebellious and non-negotiable, with its fierce independence and aim for humanity's advancement through technology and scientific innovations. Gemini ruling communication and news, it’s no surprise we will see governments and enormous corporations adopting AI even more, and a new discovery should be available this year impacting the way we relate with technology and social media. Who knows if a new social media is on the horizon, using more AI than ever? We’ll see! Whatever might unfold this year will become more visible and predominant in 2026. But a hint, dear friends, we’ll have.
Last but not least (phew!), 2025 is Pluto’s first full year in Aquarius. The solar system's farthest planet recently changed signs in 2024 but is now in Aquarius for good until 2043 (!), so it’s just the start of a rebirth in civilisation. We’re in the early stages of seeing profound transformation (Pluto) taking place in technology (Uranus, ruler of Aquarius), with more humanitarian focus (Aquarius again). Where Pluto touches, there is a long-lasting impact, so we might see only the first chapter of a whole new story unfolding for the new generations to come.
